Hope is what Jonathan Miller wants his friend Joel Stockstill to bring to Fort Wayne next week. by admin

And he is hoping local residents will be inspired by Stockstill's account of what the 10,000-member church he attends has done to help victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.

Stockstill is associate pastor of Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge, La., where hundreds of Katrina and Rita evacuees were housed after the hurricanes uprooted Gulf Coast residents in late August and late September, respectively.

"I want people to be educated a little bit on the progress that has been made," Miller said, adding that people hear a lot of negative comments about how the ball was dropped down there, but "there is a good side," he said.

One incredible thing is that the church not only provided encouraging words to hurricane victims, but it also put food in their hands and shelter over their heads, Miller said. President Bush and the first lady visited the victims at the church for about an hour and a half on Sept. 5, according to Bethany World's Web site, www.bethany.com .
