EVERYTHING you could want to know about Cumbria’s lakes is now available at the click of a mouse, thanks to a series of new web pages created by the Environment Agency.

The new pages contain pictures, maps and at-a-glance facts on all aspects of the region, including how the Lake District was formed in the Ice Age, how water quality is monitored, and the ways in which climate change could affect them in the future.

She said: “The Lake District is one of the North West’s most valuable natural assets. The Lakes form a unique habitat for plants and animals, and they are also an important part of the region’s economy, attracting 12 million visitors every year.
